The government campaign recommends that Austrians no longer bathe in bathtubs and shower with cold water. That is, if the water is hot, then the shower should last significantly shorter than before, because a minute shorter shower, as it is pointed out, supposedly brings energy savings of 20 percent.

Heating should be reduced by at least two degrees. Therefore, instead of warming up, wear thick socks, the media write.

In public facilities, heating will be limited to 19 degrees in winter. Exceptions are schools, kindergartens, hospitals and homes for the elderly.

As for electricity, an extension cord with multiple plugs is recommended, meaning that devices are unplugged when not in use, as this saves 10 percent of electricity, given that the average Austrian household has 20 different devices.
