Fashion brand Warm & Wonderful has designed a sweater that will be the main fashion piece at Sotheby’s online sale from August 31 to September 14.
Diana first wore the red sweater with a lone black sheep in a crowd of white sheep when she watched then-Prince Charles play polo in June 1981. This was a month before their wedding, prompting speculation about the clothing’s potential significance.
After she damaged his sleeve, her private secretary Oliver Everett wrote to Warm & Wonderful co-founder Joanna Osborne and asked if they could fix it. A few months later, Diana got a new one and was photographed in it in 1983. Osborne found the original sweater in a box in the attic in March.
