Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, 68, who was in office for 16 years, will publish a political memoir in 2024, her publisher announced today.
Merkel is to publish a book with former long-time adviser Beat Baumann and it will present an exclusive, personal look at her political life and work.
Immediately after leaving office, looking back on her 16-year run of the country, she said that her duties as chancellor were fulfilling, but there were also challenges.
Merkel, a former scientist who grew up in East Germany, became Germany’s first female chancellor in November 2005.
